Kingfisher Emmanuel Lutheran Church comfort dog ministry held its third annual 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 26. Approximately 75 individuals participated in the event and $6,000 was raised to support Kingfisher Meals on Wheels. This year’s event was held in honor of the team’s new comfort dog, Bailey, while also serving as a memorial to Miriam, the comfort dog under which the event initially began and who passed away unexpectedly last fall after 3 1/2 years of service. “Emmanuel Comfort team would like to thank our wonderful community for their support of this ministry,” team member Mickie Post said. “It makes a difference in our community.” Team members pictured are, from left: front row, Sheila Luedders, Comfort dog Bailey, Evie Pendergraft and Heather McCarty; middle row, Sharon Yoder, Cliff Benson, Brenda Maschino, Mickie Post, Susan Post, Keith Leimbach, Karin Leimbach, Laeken Wagner, Liz Pendergraft and Gracie Pendergraft; back row, Katie Schroeder, Karen Benson, Denise Jech, JJ Jech, Ora Yoder, Roger Post and Pastor Tim McCarty. Winners of the 5K race (pictured below) were, from left, Martin Mendoza, Jeff and Hunter Wittrock and Brandi Cortez. [Photos provided]
