    VETERAN — Duane Fike

Duane John Fike was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Okeene. He passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at his home in Kingfisher at the age of 85.

He served in the Korean War from 1954-1956 and received an honorable discharge from the Marines.

He worked at Western Electric for 31 years as an installer.

After his retirement, he bought a farm west of Dover and started a tree service. He also bought and sold rent houses.

Duane liked to hunt and fish in his off-time.

Duane’s first marriage produced two sons and one daughter, plus he welcomed one stepdaughter and one stepson.

Duane married his sec ond wife, Laura Mulherin, on April 15, 1985. He welcomed one stepdaughter in that marriage.

He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Fike and mother Delphine Fike; and five brothers, William Fike, Jerome Fike, Robert Fike, Jimmie Fike and David Fike.

Duane is survived by his wife Laura Fike of the home; brothers Wayne Fike and wife June of Kingfisher, George Fike and wife Wynemia of Bethany, Reginald Fike and wife Sue of Yukon; sister-in-law Gail Fike of Foley, Ala.; daughters Patricia Rother of Marshall and Johanna Hull and husband Clerance of Lawton; sons Pat Fike and wife Cherri, Al Fike and wife Cindy, and Mike Fike, all of Woodward; stepdaughter Hope Poarch and husband Trey of Kingfisher; 14 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 and funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8. Both services are at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher.

Interment will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
