Arlene Meier Kuntz
Arlene (Meier) Kuntz and her twin sister Darlene were born on a farm near Kingfisher on Dec. 22, 1930, to Walter C. and Elsie Meier.
She died March 20, 2019, at the age of 88.
Arlene graduated from Lacy High School and worked in Kingfisher at the ASCS office until she married Stanley Kuntz on Feb. 9, 1956, in a double wedding with sister Darlene and Bill Gruntmeir.
She then began her career as a homemaker and mother. Arlene was an excellent cook and pie baker, and also liked to sew, crochet, cross stitch, garden, camp and travel.
She loved to play the slot machines (usually penny and nickel only!), and was a lifelong fan of “Days of our Lives.”
Arlene and Stanley retired from farming and moved to Edmond in 2010.
She is survived by her husband; children, Lori of Tulsa, Jan of Edmond, and Brad and wife Karen of Edmond; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her pride and joy was granddaughter Haley Townsend, Brad’s daughter, who lives in Lawrence, Kan. with her husband Steven.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Elizabeth, her parents and sister Darlene Gruntmeir.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher.
After the Oklahoma City bombing, Arlene never liked the finality of “Goodbye,” but preferred the phrase “See you later.”
So - to Arlene, Momma, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Arlene - we’ll see you later.
