How do you summarize 97 years of life?
He lived hard, laughed often and died on his own damned time!
He was born Aug. 18,1925, at home, in Loyal to descendants of hardy, rugged pioneers who settled Oklahoma.
He was the son of a single mother, after the death of his father when he was 6 years old.
Molded by the stern hands of his grandfather and uncles, he developed his fierce honesty and character.
Working the land and growing crops resulted in a love for this land unparalleled by few.
When his country called for help, he joined the U.S. Navy. Clifford was stationed in Guam, loading aircraft with bombs, a perfect job for a tall, strong, skinny farm boy.
The G.I. Bill gave him the education to become a teacher of which he was deservedly proud. He received his master’s degree from Oklahoma A&M University (OSU) in industrial education.
Clifford took a job at Northern Oklahoma College which lasted over 35 years.
The students’ lives he impacted are in the hundreds, not only teaching them a lifelong skill, but lessons for a lifetime.
From exquisite pieces of art produced in his woodworking classes to life training skills to the men in the federal Manpower program he ran, his standards were always met by his students, as he held the bar high.
He married Verlena Mae (Staude) Jared on Aug. 28, 1949, and together they raised three daughters, Gail Ann Scholl, Joyce Lynn Moon and Carol Beth Jared Brown.
More than anything, he valued his family’s happiness and success, ensuring his daughters’ opportunities in higher education.
His love for the land always drew him back to farming and raising crops, resulting in a lifetime dream of custom wheat harvesting, which his family participated in for many years.
He maintained farming through his 93rd year, conserving this land for the future.
He was a man of impeccable character, believing “a man’s handshake was his word, not to be broken.”
All who knew him knew they could ask for help and Cliff would be there for assistance and a friendly ear. He was a man who got things done; if there was something needed you would hear someone say, “Call Jared, he can get it done!”
He was a man who could make anything, fix anything, had an opinion on anything, and encourage everyone that dreams can come true with hard work.
He will be missed deeply by his family and all who crossed his path.
Clifford was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Jared; mother, Malinda Jane (Johnson) Jared; wife, Verlena Mae (Staude) Jared; and sisters Imogene and Flossie.
He is survived by his loving family: daughters Gail Scholl, Joyce Moon, and Carol (Chris) Jared-Brown; grandchildren Jared (Anna) Scholl, Joshua Scholl, Graye (Willum) Brown-Etelamaki, and Emma Brown; and great-grandchildren Thomas Scholl, Clifford Scholl, and Lisica Scholl.
We strive with steely determination to become even a part of who Clifford H. Jared was. We will love you for eternity.
Your Family. P.S. Tell Mom Hi!
