Dale Cameron

Dale Cameron, 77, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, in Kingfisher.

His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at First Christian Church of Hennessey.

Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry Gritz Funeral Home.

There will be visitation at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. The casket will remain closed at the church.

Dale was born in Bridgeport to David William and Ruby Lucille (Miller) Cameron on Oct. 13, 1941.

He went to school in the Deer Creek-Edmond and Cashion schools, graduating from Cashion in 1959.

He married Petrena Marie (Pattie) Pfeifer on July 14, 1962.

Dale and Pattie lived in Cashion, Guthrie, Kingfisher and Enid where he was employed by Safeway Grocery Stores.

Dale bought a convenience store in Hennessey in 1970. He grew that store into a very successful chain of Dale’s Quick Stops with 11 stores in northwest Oklahoma.

He also had four Pa-Bec/ C-Stop Convenience Stores.

Dale was a very successful businessman. More of his ventures included Oklahoma Crane Service, Sunrise Homes, Sunrise Oil, Cameron Investments, Cameron Car Wash, Cameron Mini-Storage, Hennessey Tag Agency, Hennessey Foods Grocery Store.  

Dale was a community leader in Hennessey where he served on the city council. He was on the board of Red Carpet Country for many years.

He raised the funds for the Hennessey Street Light Project and the Centennial Clock in Bullfoot Park and was named Hennessey United Citizen of the Year in 2013.

He was a great supporter of Hennessey Schools sports programs where he announced football games for several years.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Hennessey.

Dale was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He loved being at the lake and the golf course. In his later years, he and Pattie enjoyed their RV and spent the winters in Rockport, Texas, and summers in Fun Valley and Durango, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, David and Donald.  

Dale is survived by his wife Pattie of Hennessey; sister Ruby Hunteman of Edmond; four sons, Todd Cameron and wife Sheila of Hennessey, Patrick Cameron and wife Jill of Piedmont, Chris Cameron and wife Tanya of Kingfisher, and Dave Cameron and wife Rachel of Kingfisher. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Mark Cameron and wife Shelby; Michelle Tillinger and husband EJ,; Claire, Carter, and Caden Cameron; Blake Cameron and wife Catie; Brooke Cameron; and Cole, Alyssa, and Caleb Cameron; and his two dogs, Daisi and CoCo.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund through Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
