Eldon Leroy Snowden went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 16, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at Lifeway Church in Kingfisher with Rev. Jay Snowden officiating.

Burial will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Eldon was born in Kingfisher on Jan. 31, 1951. He was the fourth son of Marion and Juanita Snowden.

He grew up working hard with his brothers on the family farm near Omega.

In 1969, Eldon was a member of the very first graduating class of Lomega. Loyal and Omega schools had combined after a tornado destroyed the Omega school in 1968.

Eldon went on to attend Oklahoma State University and study agriculture. In 1972, Eldon married Janice Marie Henderson. God blessed their union with three children: Shelly, Jeffrey, and Jay.

They were blessed with 51 years of marriage.

Eldon farmed with his father and brothers in a partnership called Snowden Farms. Later, Eldon and Janice would form Cedar Ridge Farms along the Cimarron River in the Loyal community.

Eldon was a member of Omega Baptist Church and served on the Lomega school board.

Eldon loved his grandchildren; they were the light of his life.

Along with his son, Jeff, they built “Snowden Nose” park. It included a real putt putt course, basketball, volleyball, whiffle ball field, 9 square, horseshoes, huge swing set, golf course, picnic area, fishing pond and walking and riding trails through all the cedars and cottonwoods along the Cimarron River.

Eldon enjoyed following his kids and grandkids to all their school events and very rarely ever missed one. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends and neighbors at the Loyal co-op.

Eldon’s favorite pastime was spending time with his Lord and Savior, daily reading the Word and listening to preachers on BOTT radio. He faithfully looked forward to attending church every Sunday and fellowshipping with his church family.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Larry and Ronald Snowden.

Eldon will always be loved and cherished by his wife, Janice of the home; his children, Shelly Donjon of Dover, Jeffery and Jessica Snowden of Dover, and Jay and Caroline Snowden of Dover; grandchildren, Riley and Addison Freelander of Dover, Jaxson and Reagan Snowden of Dover, Noah and Bree Snowden of Edmond, and Jayden, Abigail and Aisley Snowden of Dover.
