Graveside service for Paul Brooks will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at Bison Cemetery in Bison with Rev Ed Menasco presiding. Arrangements are by Anderson- Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Paul was born Nov. 13, 1942 in Purcell to James Elijah and Irene Coward Brooks and died April 29, 2023, in Enid.

He grew up all over Oklahoma and Texas following his father’s job in the oilfield.

Paul graduated from Tushka High School.

He worked in the grocery store in Hennessey, where he met Pat Vaverka. They married Feb. 23, 1963, in Hennessey.

Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. Following his discharge, they returned to Enid in 1965.

Paul was an electrician, working several years at Farmland, retiring in 2003.

He was an avid sportsman, especially hunting and fishing. Paul enjoyed woodworking, carving and making jewelry. He was a dog lover.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David, and sister, Glenda Brooks Marsh.

Paul is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Paul J. Brooks, Jr., and Phillip (Kristi) Brooks; two grandchildren, Paul J. Brooks III and Magen Renae Brooks; brother, Charles Brooks; other relatives and many friends.
