Rosemary Winters

Rosemary Winters passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2024, at Cimarron Nursing Center in the presence of loved ones.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1930, to Theodore Olin Meier and Pauline Eloise (Wilkinson) Meier.

She had one brother and two sisters.

Rosemary grew up in the Hitchcock area and graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1948.

She then attended the University of Oklahoma Nursing School in Oklahoma City before marrying Russell Winters on April 14, 1949. They settled on the family dairy farm where they made their home.

That same year, she became a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. As a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, she most enjoyed teaching children Sunday school.

This included her own four children, Steve, Scott, Stan and Rose Ann.

Her passion for the Lord was evident in everything she did. Rosemary enjoyed helping others and serving as an active member as a cook and counselor at church camp for many years.

Rosemary was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sharing this talent with many.

She owned and operated The Yardstick which opened in April 1977. Rosemary enjoyed this until retiring in 2001.

Another passion of hers was watching her grandchildren play sports. No matter where the game was, Grandma was always there.

She was an avid Lomega fan. It didn’t matter where you sat, you could always hear her cheering loudly from the stands.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Steve.

She is survived by three of her four children and their spouses: Scott (Debbie) Winters of Kingfisher, Stan (Kay) Winters of Hitchcock, Rose Ann (Lonnie) Teel of Harper, Kan.; and daughter-in-law Rhonda Winters of Kingfisher Her grandchildren include Lisa (Cody) Meier, Alecia (Dusty) Duffy, Lindsay Eaton, Mandi (Justin) May, Nathan (Camryn) Winters, Whitney (Bret) Stroh, Wager (Morgan) Winters, Evan (Macy) Winters, Meghan (Luke) Meier and Josh (Erin) Teel. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for Rosemary were Friday, Feb. 2, at the Immanuel Baptist Church of Loyal. Pastor Randy Overton officiated.

Burial followed in the Lorenz Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home-Kingfisher.

The family requests memorial donations in Rosemary’s name be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church of Loyal.
