Virgil Schovanec

Virgil E. Schovanec was born at Bison on Jan. 31, 1937, to Charles and Mary Bartunek Schovanec and died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid.

He was 86. Recitation of the Rosary was Friday, Feb. 3, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hennessey. Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Joseph’s officiated by Rev. Edward Menasco.

Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Virgil married Rose Ann Shimanek in Bison on Sept. 3, 1960.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Rose Ann of the home; three sons, Kenneth Schovanec, Douglas Schovanec, Virgil Schovanec; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, sister, Deborah Schovanec.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
