Walter Harris

The funeral for Walter Carl Harris, 68, was Wednesday, Oct. 27, at First United Methodist Church in Hennessey officiated by Rev. P. J. Stewart. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Walter was born in Hennessey on Oct. 19, 1952, to Benjamin George and Dora Winifred Rinehart Harris and died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, west of Hennessey.

Walter attended Lacy Schools until the ninth grade when it was annexed with Hennessey Public Schools.

He graduated from Hennessey High School in 1971.

Walter joined the U. S. Marine Corps following high school and served seven years in active duty and 14 years in the reserves.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hennessey.

Walter is survived by two brothers, Michael Gary Harris and Donnie Lee Harris, both of Hennessey, two nieces and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Altha Maxine.
