All-State football game is Saturday
The Oklahoma Football Coaches Association is hosting the All-State football game this weekend.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
It will pit All-State selections from the West against the East.
It’s annually played at the end of the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s week of clinics and All-State games in other sports.
However, the OCA was forced to cancel its events this year due to COVID-19.
That’s when the OFBCA stepped in - as did several other coaches’ associations in their own respective sports - to host the game.
The game was originally scheduled to feature three local players.
Cashion’s Ryan Baker and Kingfisher’s Wes Hine and Riley Myers were named to the West squad when the OCA made its selections in January.
Hine signed to play with the University of Northern Iowa and reported to the school last Sunday, so he’ll be unavailable for the All-State game.
Baker is a preferred walk-on at Oklahoma State University and also reported last weekend.
Lynn Shackelford, high school coach, said Baker’s status for this weekend’s game was still unknown at press time.
Myers, who signed to play at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, is expected to suit up for the West.
The team will be coached by his father and KHS head coach Jeff Myers.
