Despite being ranked third entering the game, Bethany had been ranked No. 1 in 4A for much of the season.

The Lady Bronchos looked every bit the part on Tuesday.

The visitors’ defense suffocated No. 6 Kingfisher from the tip and pulled away in the second half for a 47-21 victory.

The point total was Kingfi sher’s lowest of the season as the Lady Jackets were held to 30 percent shooting and committed 15 turnovers.

Still, KHS was in it for much of the first half.

Emily Myers’ driving bucket at 2:50 of the first quarter gave the Lady Jackets a 5-3 advantage.

Addy Matthews’ 3-pointer at 5:42 of the second put her team on top 8-7.

But Bethany closed the half on a 9-0 run, then scored the first six points of the second half.

The Lady Bronchos outscored Kingfisher 31-13 in the second half.

Zya Vann was Bethany’s shortest starter and the junior is listed at 5-feet-10.

The entire roster cut off Kingfisher passing lanes, but none more than her.

Vann had six steals and 10 deflections.

Those defensive plays led to some easy buckets as she eventually led all scorers with 16 points.

Her sister Talia Vann scored 11.

Kingfisher was led by Raegan Snider and Kadyn Daugherty, who was getting her first start.

Both scored six points.

KHS saw its record drop to 10-3. The Lady Jackets are 4-2 in the Western Conference.

Their only other conference loss is to No. 2 Tuttle, which a week before handed Bethany its lone loss of the season.
