Cashion can’t keep up with Boomers in loss
Class 4A’s Woodward got its first win of the season on Thursday night.
It came at the expense of Cashion.
The Boomers got three touchdowns each from Ace Long and Carson Medina as part of a 51-13 victory on their home field.
The non-district game dropped Cashion to 2-6 on the season. The Wildcats return to District A-3 play this week when they host Hinton.
Woodward scored on its first possession when Medina caught a 34-yard touchdown from Kash Carter.
Cashion fired right back as sophomore quarterback Ethan Waswo connected with Maxx Higdon for a 69-yard touchdown pass.
That pulled the Wildcats within 7-6, but things quickly went downhill.
Woodward scored four more touchdowns before the end of the half to stake a 35-6 lead.
Cashion didn’t score again until the fourth quarter when Higdon caught another TD.
Higdon caught six total passes for 108 yards.
Waswo was 14 of 29 for 134 yards and the two scores. He was also intercepted three times.
Cashion’s run game never got going as the Wildcats managed 34 yards on 20 attempts.
Carter threw for 312 yards and four TDs for the Boomers (1-7).
Kaleb Duran led Cashion’s defense with seven tackles.
