Cashion gets TRC sweep over Eagles

Four scorers in double figures, a second-quarter shutout and a dominant fourth helped Cashion land a big road win at Hennessey.

The Wildcats picked up another key Three Rivers Conference victory as they defeated Hennessey 48-27 at the Eagle Event Center.

After Hennessey took a 12-11 lead through eight minutes, Cashion outscored the Eagles 8-0 in the second.

Up nine after three quarters, the Wildcats then closed out with a 17-5 run.

They got 12 points from Austin Frazier and 11 from Vance Raney, who went 3 of 7 from 3-point range.

Landon LaGasse added 10 points and nine rebounds while Bryce Burke also scored 10.

Meanwhile Hennessey had no players in double figures.

The Eagles were led by Layton Choate and Jael Torres, who scored eight points apiece.

The Eagles were just 3 of 19 from 3-point range and shot 25 percent overall.

Cashion was only 3 of 12 from long range, but was 16 of 26 inside the arc.

The win moved the Wildcats to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Hennessey dropped to 8-7 and 3-3.

The loss came one night after the Eagles handed Chisholm a 63-35 defeat.

They outscored the Longhorns 40-11 over the middle two quarters.

Torres scored 20 and Cristian Rodriguez 10 in the victory.

Cashion girls pull away from Hennessey

Cashion got its fifth win in seven games as it ran past Hennessey 61-29 on the road.

Lauren Lamb scored 11 points in the first as the visitors got out to a 20-8 lead.

Hennessey couldn’t make a dent in its deficit as it was 14 at the half and 23 by the end of the third quarter.

The loss was the sixth straight for Hennessey as it fell to 4-10 overall and 1–5 in the conference.

Juliana Macy led the team with 11 points. She scored eight in the second half.

Kassidy Amburn and Katie Kennedy scored eight apiece.

Lamb paced Cashion with 17.

Brook Shelly poured in 16 more while Megan Shafer scored 10.

Cashion was 8-8 after the win. It is 2-1 in conference games.
