Lomega’s nearly season- long win streak met its match Saturday.

Class A’s top-ranked and two-time defending champion Seiling flexed some muscle in a 69-32 victory at home against Class B’s second- ranked Lady Raiders.

The loss put an end to a 22-game winning streak for Lomega, which hadn’t been defeated since the first game of the year.

The Ladycats did what few teams can do and that’s slow down Lomega’s scoring attack.

The Lady Raiders were held to just one field goal in the second quarter and two in the third.

Seiling turned what was already a 10-point lead into a 59-22 advantage during that stretch.

Meanwhile, Braci Nyberg - niece of Lomega coach Kevin Lewallen - and Teagan Hamar were doing damage on their offensive end.

Both hit three 3-pointers during the two middle stanzas.

Hamar had five for the game for her 15 points. Nyberg also scored 15.

Aryahna Whetstone led Seiling with 19 points.

Lomega (22-2) had just one player reach double figures as Aliana Lawson scored 13.

The Lady Raiders got their 22nd win the night before by downing Timberlake 83-20 on the road.

Four different Lomega players reached double figures, led by Abby Swart’s 20.

She made six 3-pointers on the night.

Bree Yost added four more - Lomega made 13 as a team - as she scored 19.

Kate Myers added 12 points and Lawson 10.

Lomega led 25-2 after a quarter and 42-5 by halftime.

Tough schedule sees Raiders hit rough patch

Lomega’s one-time sixgame winning streak has been hit with a losing skid as the regular season nears its end.

The Raiders were downed 50-47 Friday at Timberlake and then 55-38 in Seiling on Saturday.

That’s three losses in a row for Lomega, which fell to 15-9.

The Raiders were in control early at Timberlake and led 28-21 at halftime.

The Tigers were able to tie the game with a 17-10 burst in the third quarter.

Lomega had just two field goals in the fourth and was outscored 12-9.

The Tigers were up 4947 with 12 seconds to play, then were able to get a steal and made it a three-point game at the foul line with 7.3 seconds remaining.

Lance Yost grabbed the rebound on the missed second shot, but his long 3-point attempt missed at the buzzer.

Ben Marsh led Lomega with 17 points. He had 14 in the second and third quarters, but was limited to a free throw in the fourth.

Chase Burton added 13 and Jaxson Snowden scored 11.

Seiling is ranked eighth in Class A and got out to a 29-13 lead on the Raiders by halftime.

The Wildcats kept it in that range the rest of the night.

They were led by Hudson Hamar’s 15 points while Jacob Colvord added 13.

Marsh paced the Raiders with 13 points as Yost scored 11.
