Regular seasons are winding down for the small-school softball and baseball teams this fall, meaning the playoffs are near.

The OSSAA recently released the district assignments for Classes A and B in those two sports and they’ll begin this week.

In Kingfisher County, the Okarche baseball team is the only local team that will host a district.

The Warriors were ranked 10th in Class A with a 15-3 record heading into this weekend’s Ripley Tournament.

All three of Okarche’s losses are by one run…and to highly-ranked teams.

The Warriors dropped their season opener, 7-6, to Ft. Cobb-Broxton, currently the No. 1 team in Class B.

They followed that up with eight straight wins before a 1-0 loss to Class B No. 2 Calumet in the semifinals of the Okarche/ Am-Po Tournament.

Okarche got seven consecutive wins before dropping a 1-0 decision to Dale in extra innings on Tuesday.

Joining Okarche in the district this week will be Drummond, Fargo-Gage/ Ft. Supply and Vici.

All district tournaments have to be completed by Saturday in both baseball and softball.

Both Lomega and Dover will hit the road for their Class B baseball districts.

Dover and Carney will be in a district at No. 2 Calumet.

Meanwhile Lomega heads to Hammon, which is ranked seventh, along with Cimarron.

In softball, Okarche’s Lady Warriors will travel to Garber for a three-team district that will include Laverne.

None of the teams in that district are currently ranked in Class A.

Dover heads to Macomb in Class B. Those teams will be joined by Mulhall-Orlando.

Classes 2A and 3A will also begin their postseasons this weekend.

Both Cashion and Hennessey are in Class 2A and both currently sit at No. 2 in their respective districts.

Hennessey is second in 2A-4 behind Dale while Cashion is behind Stroud in 2A-5.

Class 2A has 16 fourteam districts and they’ll be split up into 16 regionals beginning Thursday.

If the standings hold, Hennessey will travel to Morrison for its regional while Cashion would head to Minco.

Class 4A teams don’t have to complete their district games until this Thursday, Sept. 21.

Regional pairings will be released Tuesday, Sept. 26 and regionals will begin Thursday, Sept. 28.
