County teams and individuals advance in boys golf qualifiers

Class 2A and 3A boys regional qualifiers were held throughout the state Monday.

Two Kingfisher County teams and four other individuals scored well enough to advance to next week’s regional round.

In Class 2A, the Okarche boys shot a 374 at Blackwell Golf Course to place fourth in their qualifier.

The top-six teams and top-six individuals from non-qualifying teams are allowed to advance.

Hunter Mueggenborg led the Warriors with an 84, which tied for third individually.

Lane Rother shot a 92 while Asher Schieber and Quinn Schneiter each carded a 99. Luke Harris finished at 114.

Okarche will play in the regional Wednesday at Boiling Springs in Woodward.

Joining the Warriors will be Dover’s Sam Wood.

His 90 at Blackwell tied him for 11th individually, but more importantly tied him for sixth among non-qualifying teams.

Teammate Colton Burns just missed the cut with a 91.

Cashion traveled way out west for its 2A qualifi er at Sunset Hills Golf Course in Guymon.

The team shot a 386 to place seventh, just one place - and one stroke away from qualifying.

Shattuck was sixth with a 385.

The Wildcats’ Ashton Moore was able to punch his ticket to the regional with a 90, which was 10th individually.

No other Wildcat was able to advance.

Also scoring for Cashion were Grayson Stewart and Titus Davis each with a 98, Drake Woody with a 100 and Asher Howell with a 104.

Moore will also play in the Boiling Springs regional.

The Hennessey boys played a 3A qualifier at Boiling Springs and finished in ninth with a 406.

Kevin Trillo’s 86 and Taylor Ladwig’s 88 were good enough to advance them individually to next week’s regional at Rock Creek in Sapulpa.

Also for Hennessey, Joseph Davis shot 113, Justin Tovar 119 and Daren Lara 127.
