Mallory Reames hit two big shots Tuesday to help Fairview upset Cashion.

The guard hit the game-tying shot with just 10 seconds left in regulation, then the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime as the Lady Jackets beat Cashion 44-40 at home.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Cashion, which is ranked 13th in Class 2A. The Lady Wildcats moved to 13-5 overall and 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Cashion led by two points at halftime after outscoring its host 14-9 in the second quarter. It was a three-point lead entering the fourth.

Cashion still led by two in the closing seconds before Reames banked one in off the glass from the middle of the lane.

Lauren Jenkins tried to answer on the other end, but her 3-pointer was off the mark.

Once in overtime, Reese Williams made a free throw with 3:14 to go to put Cashion up a point.

Megan Shafer missed a pair of charity shots just under a minute later, but the lead still remained.

Reames then struck again as her trey with 2:00 to go in overtime gave Fairview a 41-39 lead it wouldn’t lose.

Cashion managed just five points in the fourth quarter and overtime period combined.

Reames scored 12 to lead Fairview.

Cashion got 18 points from Shafer and seven from Jenkins.

Jackets take down Cashion 54-44

A big second-quarter run by Fairview proved too much for Cashion to overcome.

The host Yellowjackets outscored Cashion 20-8 in that quarter in what turned into a 54-44 victory.

It was Cashion’s sixth straight loss while it was Fairview’s third straight win. The Yellowjackets are now 11-4 overall while being ranked No. 12 in Class 2A.

Cashion is 7-11 overall and 1-2 in the Three Rivers Conference.

The visitors hung close in the first quarter and only trailed by three before Fairview made its game-changing run.

The Wildcats cut their deficit to seven points entering the fourth, but couldn’t fully close the gap.

Cashion made just 5 of 28 (17 percent) 3-pointers and was outscored 32-22 inside the arc by Fairview.

The Yellowjackets got 13 points and eight rebounds from Jax Bernard.

Cashion was led by Nathan Nabavi’s 20 points.

Anthony Wilburn added 11 points and six rebounds.
