Rylee Hamil and Roman Davis made history for their respective programs.

More history will have to wait.

Kingfisher’s Hamil and Cashion’s Davis were the first female wrestlers for their respective schools to qualify for the state tournament.

Both were knocked out during the wrestle-in round Thursday night at the Class 5A state tournament at State Fair Arena.

Davis was pinned at the 2:53 mark by Torri Dobbins of Skiatook in their 190-pound match.

Hamil went the distance at 115 pounds, but was eventually bested 8-3 by Sydney Harris of Little Axe.

The loss in the wrestle-in matches ended their tournament runs.

Wrestlers in those pigtail matches need to win to advance to the main bracket, which then starts double elimination.

Those first-round matches began Friday morning.
