Harviston is MVP, 4 Longhorns earn Skeltur Conference honors
Karlee Harviston and Matt Peck earned top honors when the Skeltur Conference picked its 2023-24 basketball award winners.
Harviston was named Most Valuable Player, one of three Lady Longhorns named to the all-conference team.
Peck, meanwhile, was named the coach of the year.
Dover went undefeated in conference play and also won the Skeltur Conference Tournament in January.
Harviston led the Lady Longhorns by averaging 17.4 points a game.
on the all-conference team was junior Rylee Buck. She averaged 11.2 points a game. Earning all-conference honors for the boys was Dover junior Lucas Conrady. He averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds a game for the season. Dover was 20-10 this season and advanced to the area tournament for the first time in a decade. Drummond’s Colten Dillingham was the boys’ MVP while Pond Creek-Hunter’s Darin Jones was the coach of the year. Right on her heels and joining her on the all-conference team was her twin sister Katelyn Harviston, who averaged 15.8 points a game.
Together, the seniors helped lead Dover to a 28-3 record.
The Lady Longhorns qualified for state for the first time since 2007 and advanced to the semifinals.
It was Peck’s second year as the program’s head coach.
