Jackets get district sweep
Kingfisher picked up a sweep Monday in its District 4A-5 baseball opener. The Jackets toppled visiting Anadarko 16-1 and 10-3 at Homier Field. Eli Johnson (pictured above) was big with his arm and his bat in the initial win. The senior pitched a complete game as he allowed just four hits and struck out nine Warriors in five innings of work. At the plate, Johnson was 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs. That included a tworun home run in the fourth inning. The Warriors were able to hang around in the nightcap before KHS added six runs in its final two at-bats. Jett Braun went the distance for the Jackets as he struck out 13 batters in his seven innings. Braun surrendered just two hits and one earned run. The Jackets collected 17 hits, including three each by Tanner Parker and Kaden Cline. Both also drove in two runs apiece. KHS improved to 2-2 overall. Its next home game is Thursday when Guthrie visits. First pitch is 5 p.m. [Photo by Chris Simon/www.simon-sports-photos.smugmug.com]
