Kingfisher brought home two conference championships on Wednesday.

The KHS boys golf team dominated the field at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament held at Prairie West in Weatherford.

The Jackets turned in a 307, which bested runner-up Tuttle’s total by 19 strokes.

“It was fun to watch them compete in such tough conditions,” said coach Chris Combs. “They did a great job considering how the wind blew all day.”

On top of the team title, the Jackets also had the conference’s individual champ.

Tristun Burnham’s 3-overpar 74 tied him with Chickasha’s Brock Jerman for medalist honors.

However, Burnham won a scorecard playoff to get the title.

He was just one of multiple Jacket seniors to have a big day.

Blake Hill was just two shots back of the leaders and took third.

Cash Slezickey was fourth individually with his 77.

Jax Sternberger’s 80 tied him for seventh.

The top-10 finishes garnered each of them all-conference honors.

Myles Harrison added an 89 for the Jackets.

That tournament came two days after the Jackets played in a 36-hole event in Ardmore.

Twenty full teams plus individuals played 18 holes at Dornick Hills Country Club and 18 more at Lakeview Golf Course. The latter is the site of this year’s state tournament.

The Jackets’ 656 placed them fifth. They were one of just seven teams to shoot in the 600s.

Community Christian won the tournament with a 614, three strokes better than Plainview.

Elk City was third at 644 and Crossings Christian’s 652 put it just ahead of KHS.

Burnham paced the Jackets with a 155. He had rounds of 79 and 76 and was ninth individually.

Slezickey fired rounds of 80 and 85 for a 165; Harrison followed up an 85 with an 82 for a 167; Hill had an 84 and an 87 for a 171; and Sternberger went 83 and 89 for a 172.
