KHS, Cashion advance to Game Day cheer state
Both Kingfisher and Cashion will be competing for state cheer championships this weekend.
The two teams qualified in their respective classes for the Game Day state championships with their performances in last Saturday’s regional.
Cashion placed fifth in the 2A regional at Crossings Christian School with 423 points.
Luther won the regional with 433.6 and Crescent was the runner-up with 431.8.
There were 42 teams in the 2A regional.
Kingfisher was sixth in its 4A regional.
The team produced 442.2 points with its routine.
Crossings Christian was the regional champ with 461.8.
Community Christian was the runner-up with 459.
There were 40 teams in the 4A regional.
Game Day competitors are judged in three areas: fight song, crowd leading and band chant.
State is this Saturday at Union High School in Tulsa.
The 2A competition begins at 9 a.m. and Cashion is set to perform at 9:40 a.m.
Six teams will advance to the finals and perform again with those beginning at 10:40 a.m.
The 4A state competition starts at 3:10 p.m.
KHS is the second team set to perform and will do so at 3:15 p.m.
Again, six teams from the 15 state qualifiers will advance to the finals, which start at 4:50 p.m.
Cashion has won the last three competitive cheer state championships in 2A and was the Game Day champ in 2023.
KHS has not won a Game Day title and last won a competitive cheer championship in 2023.
