Kingfisher teams advance in Buckle

Kingfisher bounced back from its loss to Bethany with a dominant performance to open the Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational.

The Lady Jackets moved into the semifinals with Thursday’s 52-11 win over Harrah JV in the opening round at the APB.

Addy Matthews and Peyton Walker combined for five 3-pointers in the first quarter as KHS got out to a 19-2 lead.

The team cruised to the finish from there.

Matthews ended her day with 23 points while Raegan Snider scored 10.

Walker had six in the game.

Kingfisher played Guymon in Friday night’s semifi nal (after press time).

Guymon beat Perkins- Tryon 55-23 Thursday.

Jackets start quick against Panthers

Like the KHS girls, the Yellowjackets used a great start to sail through their quarterfinal game.

The KHS boys also hit five first-quarter treys en route to a 71-39 victory over Harrah.

Xavier Ridenour and Caden Kitchens hit two treys each in that early quarter. By the end, the Jackets were up 30-6.

They led 44-13 at halftime.

Kitchens scored 14 and Ridenour 10 in the game, but the team was led by Maddox Mecklenburg’s 18 points.

He was 2 of 3 from 3-point range and made 6 of 7 free throws. He added a team-high five assists.

The Jackets also got 10 points from Jud Birdwell.

KHS played Guthrie in Friday’s semifinal.

The Bluejays beat Chisholm 55-22.
