Father’s Day was a long one for some Kingfisher softball players and their families…but it became one to celebrate. Kingfisher won the Babe Ruth Softball League’s 14-under state championship with four straight elimination wins. The group of Lady Jackets won the title with wins of 11-0 and 4-0 over OK Rivals in the championship round at Little Axe. Kingfisher went 6-1 overall in the tournament. It started Sunday with a loss to Enid Select in the opening round of the bracket. The team then rattled off two straight wins to reach the finals, where it needed to beat OK Rivals twice. Members of the state championship team are, from left, front row: Addi Johnson, Lili Garramone, Rori Wood, Mattie Slezickey, Shelby Davis, Analicia Ramirez and coach Payton Farrar; and back row, coach Brandon Friesen, Kinley Taylor, Layla Kroener, Adlee Friesen, Jancee Matthews, Aubrey Miller, Braylin Lerma, Taitym Walker and coach Charles Walker.
