Lady Bobcat bats too much for Kingfisher

Kingfisher couldn’t quite keep up with Bridge Creek’s firepower on the softball diamond.

The visiting Lady Bobcats hit two runs as part of their 13 hits Monday to knock off KHS 12-8 in a District 4A-4 showdown.

Bridge Creek led 7-0 after the top of the second and 11-4 entering the bottom of the fourth.

The Lady Jackets attempted to mount comebacks, but catch up.

That included the bottom of the seventh inning.

Down by seven runs, KHS posted three runs before Bridge Creek was able to close it out.

Natalie Dick pushed home two of the runs with a single and Gentry Taylor’s hit later scored Dick.

But that was as close as Kingfisher got as it fell to 9-10 overall and 2-6 in the district.

Bridge Creek - which has wins over Chickasha and Guthrie this season - was 5-11 and 2-6.

The visitors pounced early with two runs in the first inning, but erupted for five more in the second, including a two-run home run.

That’s when the Lady Jackets mounted their first comeback attempt.

Jancee Matthews’ single put KHS on the board as she scored Merrin Evans.

A fielder’s choice bunt by Addison Willson, a sacrifi ce by Dick and Taylor Mills being hit by a pitch all produced a run as the gap closed to 7-4.

But Bridge Creek got four more runs in the fourth to add more distance.
