Lady Eagles take another narrow loss; HHS boys win big

When combining all scores, Hennessey has outscored its three opponents by two points this season.

However, the Lady Eagles have two losses.

Their second straight narrow defeat came Tuesday night at home when Frontierused a fourth-quarter run for a 44-41 comefrom-behind victory.

The Lady Eagles led by five points entering the final frame, but Frontier closed with an 18-10 run.

Hennessey was just 4 of 8 from the foul line in that final stretch and 12 of 26 for the game.

Juliana Macy led Hennessey with 13 points.

She scored seven points in the second quarter that saw the Lady Eagles take a 20-10 lead. Frontier managed 34 of its points in the second half.

Gracie Mills scored 10 points and Yudi Rios eight for Hennessey.

Olivia Littlecook scored 19 to lead Frontier. She scored 17 of her points in the second half.

Frontier no match for Eagles’ hot start

Four Hennessey players reached double digits while Frontier just struggled to score - especially early - as the Eagles remained undefeated.

Hennessey scored the game’s first 24 points b efore cruising to a 56-31 home win Tuesday against the Mustangs.

Frontier didn’t score in the first quarter as the Eagles got out to a 22-0 advantage.

They added another bucket to start the second quarter before Hennessey went on cruise control to move its record to 3-0.

Jael Torres led the team with 12 points. He had six in the first quarter.

Chris Tovar and Juan Dominguez scored eight apiece in the first frame.

Each finished with 11 points.

Cristian Rodriguez added another 10 points.

Noah Buffalohead was the only Mustang in double figures. He scored 10.

The girls’ team was quarantined sometime after Tuesday’s games and the boys’ team met the same fate Thursday. “We have notified our opponent from Tuesday and they will be responsible for their own quarantine,” Athletic Director Paul Hix said in an email.)
