Lady Jackets end losing streak

Kingfisher snapped a five-game losing skid Thursday with a 10-0 victory at Okarche.

The win pumped the Lady Jackets’ record to 10-9 as the regular season hits its final three-week stretch.

Olivia Wilcox threw all four innings in the run-rule victory and allowed just three hits while striking out five.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third when KHS finally broke through with four runs off just one hit.

Mya Dewberry was hit by a pitch and Kaycee Karcher walked - both with the bases loaded - to earn RBIs.

The Lady Jackets tacked on six more runs in the fourth - again off just one hit.

That hit was an RBI single by Taylor Mills.

Natalie Dick picked up a pair of RBIs when reaching on an error.

Mia Farrell and Dewberry also garnered an RBI in the inning.

Dewberry, Karcher and Dick had two RBIs apiece overall.

The win came two days after KHS dropped a 4-3 decision at home to the OKC Broncos.

With the game tied, the Broncos were able to push the go-ahead run across in the top of the fourth.

KHS got the tying run to second base in the seventh, but couldn’t get Dewberry home.

KHS fell behind 2-0 early, but cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second on Macy McCully’s RBI triple.

Karcher drove in a run in the third and then Dick tied the game with a run-scoring single to score Karcher.

Wilcox gave up just two earned runs over seven innings.

She struck out five without walking a batter and surrendered eight hits.

The Lady Jackets travel to McLoud for a District 4A-1 game Monday.

McLoud knocked off KHS 9-3 in the season opener.

Kingfisher is currently tied for fourth in the district at 2-4 with Bethany. KHS swept Bethany earlier this season.

Newcastle is atop the standings at 6-0 and Cushing is next at 5-0.

McLoud is third with a 2-3 mark.
