Offense sparked defense, which led to more offense.

It all equated to a runaway Kingfisher victory.

The Lady Jackets on Thursday locked up a spot in a 4A regional championship game with a resounding 65-21 win at home over Mannford in a semifinal.

Now the Lady Jackets set their sights on Weatherford, a team with which they’ve split this season.

Kingfisher won 46-45 on its home court in the Buckle of the Wheatbelt finals on Jan. 25, but Weatherford returned the favor on its own home court on Feb. 4, downing KHS 53-47.

Weatherford earned its spot in the regional title game by defeating Elk City 53-36 Thursday.

Mannford scored the game’s first four points and held Kingfisher to eight points in the first quarter.

The Lady Pirates’ zone had Kingfisher stymied and a lack of offensive production limited the Lady Jackets’ ability to set up their press.

That ability increased about midway through the second quarter when Reese Roof and Mattie Slezickey made back-toback 3-pointers.

Roof and Ela Hartman were able to add buckets off of turnovers from Kingfi sher’s press.

A 12-10 Kingfisher deficit was suddenly ballooning in the Lady Jackets’ favor.

They closed the half on a 22-2 run to lead by 20 at the break.

Roof scored 10 in that second quarter while Reagan Snider added seven and Slezickey five.

The onslaught continued in the third quarter as the Lady Jackets extended their lead to 37 points.

Then Kingfisher shutout Mannford in the fourth.

Roof made four 3-pointers on the night and scored 18 of her game-high 20 points during those two middle quarters when the Lady Jackets outscored their guests 50-15.

Snider ended her night with 13 points while Myers scored 11 and Hartman chipped in nine.

    Kingfisher improved to 20-5.
