The tenure of Hennessey High School’s most successful basketball coach has come to an end. Brady Page resigned his position with the school last week. He informed Superintendent Jason Sternberger of his decision Tuesday afternoon, then met with his team on Wednesday. Page told the Times & Free Press he has not accepted a position at another school. The Hennessey position was posted Thursday on Oklahoma Coaches Association jobs board. Page coached the Eagles for 13 seasons and got Hennessey to the state tournament six times during that stretch. Prior to his arrival, the program had only been to state four times. Hennessey reached the Class 2A state championship game in 2019, losing to Rejoice Christian. It was the program’s first appearance in a state championship since 1974. Hennessey also reached state in 2012, 2015, 2018, 2023 and 2024. The most recent run saw Hennessey reach the 2A semifinals before being defeated by eventual state champion Dale, which won its third consecutive title. Look for more on Page’s tenure and his decision to step away in an upcoming edition of the Times & Free Press. [Photo by Russell Stitt/www.stitt.smugmug.com]
