Raiders hold off late Vici rally for one-point victory
Vici tried to take home a win from Lomega.
Trevor Lentz wouldn’t let it happen.
The Lomega senior had a key steal and rebound late in the game Friday to help the Raiders hold off the Indians 65-64 at home.
Up by six late in the game, Lomega let Vici claw back into it, thanks largely to a pair of 3-pointers from Andrew Keeton.
One of them came with 47 seconds to play, pulling the Indians within three.
The Raiders had no problems with Vici’s press, which led to a Jaxson Snowden bump off the glass to push the lead back to five.
Vici eventually cut the score to 64-61 when Lomega’s Chase Burton was sent to the line.
Burton made the first, but missed the second and Vici grabbed the defensive rebound.
That’swhenLentzstruck as he stole the ball back for the Raiders, allowing them to chew valuable seconds off the clock.
The possession, though, didn’t net any points for Lomega, which still led by four points.
Keeton knocked down another big trey, this time with about 8 seconds to play to bring his team within a point.
Lomega got the ball into Lentz, who was fouled with just under two seconds to go. He missed both, but ran down the offensive rebound to run out the clock.
The loss snapped a fourgame win streak for Vici, which led 16-9 after a quarter.
Lance Yost scored 10 points and Ben Marsh eight as Lomega claimed the lead by halftime with a 25-15 run.
Marsh added nine more in the third as the two teams kept pace with one another.
He eventually led all scorers with 25 points.
Burton scored 19 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter.
Yost finished his night with 14 as Lomega won its second straight and improved to 3-3.

The Lady Raiders were torching them en route to Friday’s 89-31 home victory against Vici.
