Weston Smith continued his march up the Hennessey record books.

He’s got one more week to complete the journey.

Smith was a bright spot in last Friday’s 65-17 loss at No. 2 Millwood.

The senior caught seven passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns in the defeat.

The scores moved Smith into second place all-time in Hennessey with 20 career TD receptions.

He moved past Barry Crosswhite and Seth Simunek and sits behind only Rob Simunek’s 25.

He also threw a 46-yard pass, had six total tackles and two tackles for a loss in the game.

However, it wasn’t near enough to help the Eagles keep pace with the mighty Falcons.

After Hennessey drove the field and scored on the opening drive, Millwood answered right back with a four-play, 98-yard scoring drive of its own.

The Eagles’ next two offensive snaps resulted in a pick-six and a fumble return for a touchdown for the home team.

The Falcons shut down Hennessey’s run game as the Eagles’ 14 rushes netted minus-22 yards.

Gunnar Holder, who threw the two touchdowns to Smith, completed 12 of 25 passes for 118 yards.

The first touchdown was 26-yard connection. Holder and Smith’s second score came from 55 yards out.

Tucker Goff and Tyler Byrd packed the defense with nine tackles apiece.

Cam Griffin, Kevin Trillo and Luis Macias-Montoya joined Smith in recording six stops each.

Macias-Montoya also had a 33-yard field goal in the game.

Millwood moved to 8-1 overall and wrapped up the District 2A-1 title by moving to 6-0 in those games.

Hennessey is 0-9 and 0-6. The Eagles wrap up their season Friday at Newkirk (1-8, 1-5).
