Snider, Matthews help KHS overwhelm Weatherford

When Kingfisher’s offense is working inside and out, the Lady Jackets are a formidable foe.

That was on full display Tuesday night.

KHS got its second win of the season over No. 17 Weatherford, this time in even more dominant fashion as it ran away for a 57-28 victory at the APB.

The Lady Eagles led 16-14 on Marley Teasley’s second 3-pointer of the game with 4:38 to go in the second quarter.

The rest of the game belonged to Kingfisher.

Addy Matthews’ trey at 3:38 kickstarted an 11-0 KHS run to end the first half. It was a lead the Jackets steadily built on the rest of the night.

Matthews did her part as the senior was 3 of 4 from 3-point range as part of her 19 points.

Her effort was allaround, however.

Matthews added seven rebounds and three steals.

KHS had 14 thefts as a team and forced 18 turnovers, scoring 26 points off of them.

As usual, Peyton Walker was her pick-pocketing self.

She had five steals and another seven deflections.

The senior point guard also made two treys for her six points and added five assists.

While Walker and Matthews handled much of the perimeter on offense, the inside belonged to Raegan Snider.

The junior had a career night as she hammered down 25 points on 10 of 15 shooting.

She scored eight points during the second quarter as KHS outscored Weatherford 14-5. She added another eight points as the lead moved to 40-26 by the end of the third quarter.

Five Lady Jackets scored in the fourth as the team completely put it away with a 17-2 run.

Weatherford had four field goals in the first quarter, capped by Teasley’s 3-pointer at the end of it to tie the game at 11-11.

The Lady Eagles made just seven more field goals the rest of the night. KHS held its guests to 11 of 36 (30.6 percent) overall.

Weatherford dropped to 14-5 while KHS moved to 15-4.

The 10th-ranked Lady Jackets have now won nine in a row.

Weatherford boys overpower Jackets

The second quarter gave Kingfisher a glimmer of hope.

The other three showed Weatherford’s prowess.

The top-ranked Eagles beat Kingfisher for the second time this season and won their 11th straight Tuesday as they took home a 67-27 victory from the APB.

Down by 22 points after the first quarter, Kingfisher held the Eagles to just a pair of field goals and outscored them 9-4 in the second quarter.

But the third quarter started with two quick Weatherford steals and layups as the Eagles began to further pull away.

C.J. Nickson and Tate Sage scored 18 apiece to lead the Eagles, who are now 18-1 on the season.

Ethan Sage added 12. Kingfisher got 12 points from Coleman Gilles.

The loss pushed KHS to a 5-14 mark for the season.
