Strong 4th pushes Cashion past Hennessey upset bid

Hennessey’s defense frustrated Cashion for much of the game.
Cashion’s defense sealed the win in the fourth quarter.
The visiting Lady Wildcats outscored Hennessey 12-2 in the fourth quarter to pull out a hard-fought 38-28 victory and avoid the upset.
The Lady Eagles pulled even after three quarters by outscoring Cashion 12-8 in the third quarter.
Five different Hennessey players scored in that quarter, but only one was able to post points in the final eight minutes.
Cashion was able to stake an early five-point lead in the fourth, then sealed it at the line.
The team went 6 of 7 on free throws.
Senior Lauren Jenkins made all five of her attempts. One of them was to complete a three-point play.
Jenkins was limited to three points through the first three quarters.
Hennessey for much of the game employed a triangle- and-two defense.
Cashion struggled to solve it and had only seven field goals and 26 points through three quarters.
That allowed Hennessey to keep up.
Kadee Meeker led the Lady Eagles with 12 points. She scored the only points of the fourth.
Amiliey Tuell added six points.
Jenkins led her team with 10 points.
Madison Westerhoff scored seven while Reese Williams and Megan Shafer scored six apiece.
Cashion improved to 11-4.
The Lady Wildcats are 2-0 in Three Rivers Conference games.
Hennessey dropped to 9-9 overall and 1-3 in conference.
It was the Lady Eagles’ fifth game in six days. They defeated Chisholm 53-28 at home the day before.
Four HHS players reached double figures in that win, led by Star Torres’ 12 points.
Emma Copeland and Meeker scored 11 apiece while Ally Painter notched 10 points.
Hennessey led 16-1 after a quarter and outscored the Lady Longhorns 27-12 in the second half.
