There was a stark difference in Crescent’s first two football games of this 2022 season.

The first saw just one touchdown scored between the two teams and wasn’t decided until the final play.

The second had a 36-point differential and was all-butover well before the first quarter ended.

The similarity? Both were Crescent wins. The Tigers overwhelmed Crooked Oak 46-8 on the road Friday to move to 2-0 on the season.

In its first road game, Crescent scored 27 points in the first quarter and all 46 by halftime.

Crooked Oak was held to 93 total yards and turned it over four times.

Crescent had no such issues. The Tigers scored on the ground, through the air and with special teams…all in the first quarter.

Tanner Rice ran for a 27-yard touchdown and caught a 38-yard TD pass from Kade Varner.

In between was a 28-yard punt return for a touchdown by C.J. Wilson.

That was the first of three scores by Wilson, who also had a receiving and rushing touchdown.

Tylan Neugent ran for two TDs as well.

Overall, Crescent ran for 229 yards and averaged 6.9 yards per carry.

Wilson led the team with 65 yards on six carries. Neugent’s four attempts garnered him 43 yards.

Three more Tigers had at least 32 rushing yards.

Varner added 113 passing yards and had just two incompletions in six attempts.

Eli Portwood led the defense with six total tackles.

Crescent is back at home this week when it hosts Morrison.

The Wildcats were off last week after suffering a 43-0 defeat at the hands of Tulsa NOAH in Week 0.
