Lady Jackets start golf season with team win
Kingfisher’s girls golf team got its season started with a title on Wednesday.
The team took first in the small-school division of the Weatherford Girls Invitational Tournament.
Raegan Snider fired an 87 to take first place indivdually.
Teammate Kylie Hood was the runner-up with a 95.
Both were state qualifi ers a year ago, but KHS didn’t have enough golfers for a full team.
That’s changed this year as Merrin Evans and Mia Hartman are playing competitively for the first time.
Evans shot a 125 and Hartman a 126 to give KHS a 433 total. ( Ed. note: See team photo on Page 6.)
“They did great, especially when you consider they’ve never played competitively before,” said coach Audra Smalley.
“I’m very proud of them.”
Hood, Snider and Evans were back on a course Thursday at the Dickson High School Tournament at Lake Murray Golf Course.
Hood shot a 90 to take ninth place individually.
Snider was two strokes behind her and Evans finshed with a 126.
