Barnett places, Browning gets milestone win at Cushing
Kingfisher had one placer and notched 44 points at last weekend’s Cushing Tiger Invitational.
Robert Barnett placed sixth at 215 pounds to lead Kingfisher’s showing.
However, one other Yellowjacket reached a milestone.
Gant Browning won his 100th career match as he took part in the 132-pound bracket.
Browning and Barnett were two of five Jackets to reach the second day of the tournament.
Joining them were Jaxson Sheppard at 126 pounds, Damien Haynes at 144 and Mason Alig at 175.
Kingfisher took 10 wrestlers to the tournament.
All five Jackets moving to the second day did so in the consolation bracket of their respective weights.
Browning went 2-2, losing first in the quarterfi nal round and then in his second consolation match on Saturday.
Browning is a three-time state qualifier and was a state placer last season.
Barnett went 5-3 over two days and scored 13 of the Jackets’ points.
After losing his second- round match, Barnett won four consecutive matches in the consolation round to reach the consolation semifinals.
He lost his next two matches to take sixth in the tournament.
Sheppard was 2-2 and earned seven points as did Browning.
Haynes went 1-2 while Alig was 2-2 and picked up eight points.
