Wrestlers prep for regional
Kingfisher will be the host site of a Class 5A girls wrestling regional next Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Among the schools joining host KHS at the regional will be Cashion and Hennessey.
Also a part of the regional will be Anadarko, Bethel, Billings, Bridge Creek, Cache, Cleveland, Clinton, Comanche, Cordell, Davis, Douglass, Elk City, Empire, Geary, Harrah, Hinton and Lawton Academy.
Also, Lexington/Purcell, Lone Grove, Madill, Mannford, Marlow, Mc-Loud, Morrison, Newkirk, Pauls Valley, Pawhuska, Pawnee, Perkins-Tryon, Plainview, Tecumseh, Tonkawa/DCLA, Tuttle and Weatherford.
The first session will begin at 10 a.m. and the second session at 6 p.m.
The top-five placers in each weight class will advance to the state tournament.
The same goes for the male wrestlers, who have their regionals Feb. 16-17.
Kingfisher, Hennessey and Cashion will take part in the Class 3A West regional at Marlow.
Also at the regional will be Anadarko, Berryhill, Bethel, Binger-Oney, Caddo, Casady, Chandler, Christian Heritage, Coalgate, Comanche, Community Christian, Cordell, Crossings Christian, Davis, Dickson, Empire, Geary, Hinton and Hobart.
Also, Konawa, Little Axe, Lone Grove, Mangum, Marlow, Millwood, Mount St. Mary, Newkirk, Oklahoma Christian School, Pathways, Pawnee, Perry and Prague.
The state tournament for both boys and girls will be Feb. 22-24 at State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City.
