Lomega wraps up regular season
Lomega wrapped up its girls basketball regular season Saturday on a nine-game win streak.
The Lady Raiders defeated Newkirk 51-33 in the Downtown Enid Basketball Festival for the final win.
The victory gave Class B’s second-ranked team a 21-3 record entering this weekend’s district tournament.
One day prior to defeating Newkirk, Lomega played its final regular season home game by holding off Timberlake 57-46.
The Lady Raiders outscored Timberlake in every quarter, but never by more than three points.
Senior Courtney Fox led the team with 17 points.
Fellow senior Megan Dunigan added nine and Mady Meier - yet another senior - scored eight.
Tatum Yost, Emma Duffy and Hensley Eaton scored seven points apiece.
Raiders also win twice
Lomega’s boys also won on both Friday and Saturday.
The Raiders nailed 10 3-pointers in Friday’s 71-48 thumping of Timberlake.
Made shots were tougher to come by Saturday at the Central National Bank Center in Enid.
Still, the team came away with a 43-41 victory over Newkirk.
“We only made 3 of 6 free throws in the last minute or we would have made some more breathing room for ourselves,” said coach Justin Edsall.
“We just couldn’t make shots all night.”
Riley Lumpkin made the most shots as he led the Raiders with 14 points.
He scored seven in the fourth quarter.
Karson Glazier added 11points,sixinthefourth, and Noah Snowden nine.
Lomega enters the playoffs with a 15-9 record and a three-game win streak.
