Theta Tau holds regular January meeting
Theta Tau Chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, met at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at BancFirst in Kingfisher.
President Cynthia Eaton conducted the business meeting. Madell Henderson gave the inspiration, “God Loves Your Heavenly Treasurers.”
The chapter sponsored six students at Oklahoma School for the Blind during the Christmas season.
The chapter set the date to begin baking cinnamon rolls for the week of March
25.
Those serving on the nominating committee are: Karen Castonguay, Dana Terrell and LaVenia Bout-well. They will give a report of the slate of officers at the March meeting.
The February Social will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 18 at The Stack for members, spouses and guests.
In keeping with the club’s educational theme - What is Your Birth Flower Month? - Henderson celebrated her birthday on the 21st.
The January birth flower is the carnation. Henderson told the group different carnations symbolized different things based on their color. January-born people’s best quality is that no matter what, they remain down-to-earth. They have many moods, but regardless how they feel, their style remains the same, simple but stunning, Henderson told members.
Ramona Paine gave the February birth flower which is the iris. The iris mythology dates back to ancient Greece, which the goddess Iris, who personified the rainbow (the Greek word for iris) acted as the link between heaven and earth.
The three upright petals on an iris are said to represent faith, valor and wisdom.
This makes six educationals presented to the chapter and it’s now qualified to receive a state Gold Link certificate.
Paine, educational director, is compiling all educationals in a notebook and will send it to the state educational director for judging for the Gold Seal award which will be awarded at state convention in April.
The Gold Seal educational deadline is April 1.
The hostess and co-hostess, Terri Stake and Paine, served refreshments to the following members:
Henderson, Boutwell, Terrell, Donna McPherson, Debi Trout, Eaton, Terri Peck, Karen Castonguay, Stormy Simmons and guest Dana Golbek.
The next meeting is 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
