It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Lee Darrough, 89, who passed away at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026. Chuck will be remembered for his love of family, a generous heart and his unwavering optimism regardless of life’s many ups and downs. Chuck was born in Kingfisher on July 14, 1936, to Harold and Elinor Darrough. During his childhood, his family briefly moved to California and Oregon, where Chuck was first introduced to the game of golf – a passion that would become a defining part of his life.

The family returned to Kingfisher when Chuck was 15, where he graduated from high school and went on to build his life and legacy.

On April 1, 1960, Chuck married his beloved wife Beverly and they shared 48 years of marriage until her passing. In his later years, Chuck found companionship and love with his partner of 15 years, Kandy Cochran.

Chuck was self-employed for much of his life, working both as a farmer and the owner of Cimarron Exterminators. He served in the National Guard as a cook and as president of the Kingfisher Golf Association for several years.

He and his late wife, Beverly, were longtime members of the Federated Church, volunteers for Meals on Wheels and passionate members of the Kingfisher community.

Chuck loved to hunt for quail and duck and especially cherished his fishing trips with family and friends in the latter years, where he kept everyone laughing with his quick wit and sly humor.

He had a lifelong obsession with planting flowers and watching classic movies.

Chuck’s greatest joy in life was his family - especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always made him glow: Jarred Darrough, Bethany (Darrough) Leary and husband John R. Leary, Sydney Darrough, Scott Case and wife Griselda, Ryan Case and wife Kristi and Jamie (Case) Sigl and husband Michael, as well as his great-grandchildren Emma Bea and John Charlie Leary.

Chuck also embraced his role as a father and grandfather figure to Kandy’s family, including Stephanie, Scott, Madison, Mia and Christian Farrell; Olivia Kite; Nicole, Sam, Keelen, Zak and Channing Eaton; Sarah and Caston Scott; Amanda, Serenidy, Tiffany and Brayland Pflueger.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Darrough, his parents Harold and Elinor Darrough and his sister Margene Naberhaus.

He is survived by his partner Kandy Cochran; his son, Steve Darrough and wife Robyn; his daughter, Lee Ann Darrough; his brother, Jim Darrough; and his sister, Debi Pomykal and husband Dwain.

The family would like to thank Chuck’s caregiver of four years, Tammy Jones, his partner Kandy Cochran and the staff of Choice Hospice for their compassionate care in his final months.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Federated Church in Kingfisher followed by burial at the Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Federated Church of Kingfisher, 400 W. Fay Ave., Kingfisher, OK 73750.
