Dover was back in familiar territory last week: In its regular gym and in overtime.

The Longhorns snapped a two-game skid Friday with a 53-50 win at home against Mulhall-Orlando.

It was Dover’s fourth overtime game this season and the third time to win one.

Two of those OT victories have now come against the Panthers and dramatics on both ends of the floor got the teams to the extra period.

With his team trailing by one, Dover’s Nathan Cohee drilled a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left in overtime to give the Longhorns a 45-43 advantage.

There was no doubt who M-O would turn to for an answer.

Tatum Kime already had 29 points and he put up a 3-pointer to try to win it on the road.

Kime’s shot missed its mark, but Zach Pressgrove was there for a putback at the buzzer, sending the game into OT.

Once there, Dover outscored the Panthers 8-5 as Pedro Valles made all six of his free throw attempts.

Valles scored 13 points for the Longhorns, 10 of them in the fourth quarter and OT.

The Longhorns trailed by two entering the fourth, but made four 3-pointers to help close the gap.

Three of them were by Damion Turner. He made five in the game and also had a bucket in OT as part of his 21 points.

Luis Ruiz added seven for Dover, which is 8-14.

Kime scored 34 for the visitors while Pressgrove added nine.

Lady Longhorns grab 18th win

Both teams had a 21-point scorer.

One of them just had a lot more help.

Dover won for the seventh time in eight games Friday as it cruised past Mulhall-Orlando 56-33 at home.

The visitors’ Emily Parsons dropped 21 points in the game as did Dover’s Karlee Harviston.

Parsons was the lone Lady Panther to reach double figures.

But Dover also got 17 points from Rylee Buck and another 12 from Katelyn Harviston.

Dover led 28-18 at halftime, then outscored M-O 23-11 in the third quarter to put it away.

Karlee Harviston scored nine in that decisive quarter while Buck knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.

The win pushed Dover’s season mark to 18-5. The Lady Longhorns are ranked No. 12 in Class B.
