Cashion got off to a quick start and never looked back in its district title game.

The Lady Wildcats remained in the Class 2A winner’s bracket with last Saturday’s 61-24 win over Stroud.

They head to Stroud for this week’s regional tournament. They’ll take on a somewhat familiar foe at 6 p.m. Thursday in Minco.

The two Three Rivers Conference squads played Dec. 10, which was a 61-36 Cashion win.

The Lady Wildcats jumped to a 20-8 lead on Stroud and were up 36-14 by halftime.

The third quarter didn’t see a dropoff as they went on an 18-5 run.

Five different Cashion players scored nine points: Brooke Shafer, Abby Hobgood, Madison Westerhoff, Addison McCracken and Kate Nabavi.

The team was led by Megan Shafer’s 11 points.

The Lady Wildcats go into the regional with a 17-9 record.

Long ball helps lead Wildcats to victory

Anthony Wilburn’s accuracy from long range helped push the Cashion Wildcats to a district championship.

Wilburn made five treys Saturday as the Wildcats outlasted a pesky Stroud squad 66-49 in their Class 2A district title game in Cashion.

The Wildcats will take on Luther at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a regional winner’s bracket game in Stroud.

Cashion outscored Stroud in every quarter, but its 17-10 advantage in the first quarter was its best of the game.

The Tigers didn’t threaten, but also wouldn’t go away.

One of Cashion’s biggest advantages was beyond the 3-point line.

The Wildcats outscored Stroud 33-21 in that area.

Wilburn was 5 for 8 from long distance.

Drake Woody and Hudson Horan added two apiece.

Wilburn finished with 16 points.

Parker Mitchell led the team with 18. He added six rebounds.

Kamden Miller scored nine and Woody eight.

Horan chipped in six, as did Carson Gump, who also had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Cashion improved to 19-7 with its victory.
