Crossings Christian wasn’t a kind guest in Hennessey’s football home opener.

The Knights scored the game’s first six touchdowns Friday en route to a 41-7 victory.

The Eagles (0-2) had just two first downs and 54 total yards of offense while turning it over three times.

Meanwhile, the Knights in their season opener found different ways to score.

Nate Rouse got it going with a 36-yard touchdown run, then added a 44-yard scoring pass to Luke Olsen.

Olsen took the short pass, then raced down the sideline for the 13-0 lead.

The Knights kept it on the ground for their next four TDs, two of them by Jonah Neher.

Hennessey was able to get on the board in the fourth when QB Gunnar Holder hit Weston Smith for a 13-yard touchdown.

Holder was 9 of 17 for 24 yards with Smith catching five passes for 28.

Zack Tillman was the team’s leading rusher with 26 yards on nine attempts.

The Knights got a bulk of their 313 yards on the ground.

They produced 234 rushing yards and averaged 8.7 a carry.

That average was bolstered by Holden Manchester, who covered 85 yards on his two carries.

Tyler Bird led Hennessey with 11 tackles, seven of them solo.

Five different Eagles had five tackles apiece.

The Eagles (0-2) go back on the road this week when they visit Hinton (2-0).
