Five from county earn football all- star status
Five football players from Kingfisher County are considered among the best in their respective classes.
The Oklahoma Coaches Association last week announced its all-stars for each classification.
Named to the west squad in Class A was Cashion’s Tommy Branson.
He was named to the team as an offensive lineman.
Branson worked his way into the starting lineup as a sophomore when Cashion won its second straight Class A title in 2021.
He remained in the starting lineup as a guard during his junior and senior seasons and was also a starter on the defensive front in 2023.
Earning the honor in Class 2A was Hennessey’s Weston Smith as a wide receiver.
Smith caught 71 passes for 782 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023.
He had 21 career touchdown receptions, which ranks him second all-time in program history.
Three Kingfisher players were named in Class 3A: Dallen Barton, Damien Haynes and Jake Reagan.
All three were listed as two-way players.
Barton started at running back and defensive back.
He led the team with 419 yards and five touchdowns rushing.
He was third on the team with 71 tackles and had a team-high 41 solo stops.
Haynes was a wide receiver and defensive back.
He caught 25 passes for 282 yards and two scores.
Haynes also had 31 tackles and two interceptions on defense.
Reagan was a defensive end and tight end for KHS.
Defensively he took part in 41 tackles and had a teamhigh six sacks and eight tackles for loss.
On offense, he hauled in eight passes for 82 yards and a TD.
Earning all-star by class is a prerequisite for All-State, but no county players were among those selected for that honor.
