Two lines helped determine Kingfisher’s fate on Tuesday night.

The free throw line and 3-point line.

McGuinness had stark advantages in both of those categories in an otherwise even game as the Irish left town Tuesday with a 42-29 victory.

The Jackets led 4-0 and 6-4 early in the contest, but McGuinness went on a 10-0 run and never trailed again.

Kingfisher was able to cut its deficit to four in the second quarter and five in the third, but each time Brody Parks answered with a 3-pointer.

That was a big part of the game.

Parks and Jett Schafer combined to make five of McGuinness’ six 3-pointers on the night. KHS was 0 for 9 from 3-point range.

The Irish also made good on 14 of 20 free throws while Kingfisher only attempted 11, making five.

Otherwise, KHS played even with the Irish.

The visitors struggled to handle homecoming king Coleman Gilles, crowned in a ceremony prior to the girls’ game.

For the second straight outing, Gilles had more than half of the Jackets’ points.

He poured in 17 to go with seven boards and three steals.

Jake Reagan scored five points to go with his five rebounds.

Schafer led the Irish with 13.

Kingfisher fell to 6-15 with the defeat.
