Kingfisher girls coach Taylor Young hinted at a faster pace of play from her Lady Jackets this season.

She said games other than that of the season opener against Merritt might lend themselves to provide more opportunity to run and…press.

The opportunity lended itself greatly last Friday night in Chisholm.

The KHS girls used a relentless press to force a majority of Chisholm’s three dozen turnovers in a 77-26 win on the road.

Made buckets offer the opportunity to apply pressure and the Lady Jackets had plenty.

They made 11 field goals in the first quarter alone.

They turned a 2-2 game into a 12-2 advantage early and it swelled to 25-5 by the end of the first quarter.

Abbie Myers and Reese Roof did the most damage. Each had four field goals in that first frame and combined for 19 points, a total Chisholm couldn’t eclipse until the fourth quarter.

Raegan Snider shrugged off a slow start to score six in the second quarter as KHS pushed its lead to 42-12.

Snider scored seven more in the third quarter and finished with 17.

Roof also scored 17 points.

Myers did all of her scoring in the first quarter, but also had nine rebounds to go with her nine points.

Adlee Friesen and Ela Hartman scored eight apiece while Maya Haney chipped in six.

Chisholm’s 36 turnovers led to 47 of Kingfi sher’s points. Most were easy buckets as KHS had 46 points in the paint and shot 25 of 42 (59.5 percent) from inside the arc.
