Lomega dominates Okeene in road sweep
A year ago, Lomega came back from the holiday break to be stunned at home by Okeene.
There was no stunning this time around.
Class B’s top-ranked team steadily pulled away from Okeene in a 64-31 road win on Tuesday.
Last year, Lomega was coming off a strong showing at the Bertha Frank Teague Mid-America Classic. Okeene shocked the home crowd and rode that momentum all the way to the Class B state tournament.
It was there that Lomega exacted revenge by defeating the Lady Whippets in the state quarterfinals.
There will be no rematch this year as Okeene has moved up to Class A.
Chloe Meier and Monse Rivera combined for three 3-pointers and Sydni Walker scored four points in the opening frame as Lomega staked a 19-7 lead.
Darcy Roberts heated up with nine second-quarter points as the advantage grew to 24 points.
Roberts added six more points during an 11-3 third-quarter run.
The senior finished with 15 points.
Abby Swart also scored 15, nine of which came in the fourth quarter.
Meier finished her night with nine points while Hadley Ott scored seven.
Maddi Schmidt led Okeene, the 17th ranked team in its class, with 12 points.
Lomega was 11-0 after the win.
Raiders extend win streak Either Lomega or Okeene was going to exit last Tuesday’s matchup with a three-game win streak.
It was the Raiders. Breaking open a close game, Lomega dominated the third quarter en route to a 72-37 road win.
The Raiders led by just three points at halftime, but outscored the Whippets 30-9 in the third quarter.
Chase Burton and Ben Mash scored eight points apiece, leading six different Raiders to post points in the stanza.
Lomega, now 8-3 on the season, then outscored Okeene 21-10 in the fourth.
Burton led four Raiders in double figures with 16 points.
Lance Yost and Marsh each scored 11.
Kade Shaloy contributed 10.
