Okarche teams continue hot streaks
The Okarche train continues to pick up steam.
The Warriors won their 11th straight game on Tuesday by downing Crescent 95-50 in a Three Rivers Conference home game.
In those 11 wins, the Warriors have averaged 83.8 points and haven’t scored less than 72 in any game.
Like most other contests, Okarche’s defense leads to offense.
The Warriors forced 34 turnovers, which led to 43 points.
The scoring was spread evenly with Jett Mueggenborg leading the way with 16 points.
Hunter Mueggenborg added 13 points and also had seven assists.
The Warriors also got 12 points from Caden Schieber and 11 from Easton Roby.
In addition to winning the conference tournament, the Warriors are now 4-0 in conference games, but have three of their tougher tests remaining.
After hosting Class B’s top-ranked and undefeated Calumet in a non-conference game next Tuesday, the Warriors close out their regular season at Hennessey on Thursday, at home against Fairview on Saturday and at Cashion next Tuesday.
All three teams are currently ranked in Class 2A. Hennessey and Fairview are also currently without a regular-season conference loss.
Lady Warriors get 3rd win over Crescent
The Okarche and Crescent girls are no strangers this season.
That hasn’t been good news for Crescent.
The Lady Warriors won for the third time in as many matchups on Tuesday as they downed visiting Crescent 61-18.
The two teams also met up in the Three Rivers Conference and Coyle tournaments.
Okarche has won the three games by an average of 65-21.
The Lady Tigers kept it close early as Okarche staked a 13-6 lead through one quarter.
In the second, however, the home team blew it open with a 25-5 run.
Eight different Okarche players scored in the quarter.
The balanced attack saw three players reach double figures.
Scout Payne and Callie Cramer led the way with 13 points each.
Katie Parham added 12 points.
The win pushed Okarche to 12-7. The Lady Warriors have won four in a row and seven of their last eight.
