Ripley takes 2 from Eagles
Hennessey coach Brian Richardson knew winning at Ripley last Tuesday would be a chore.
“They’re no joke,” he said of Class A’s 10thranked Lady Warriors.
He was right….but Hennessey also continues its no joke as the playoffs near.
The Lady Eagles saw their seven-game win streak snapped in a 27-21 defeat.
Hennessey led 19-17 entering the fourth quarter, but was held without a field goal over the final eight-plus minutes.
“We had them on the ropes,” Richardson said. “We just couldn’t make a shot late.”
Ripley’s Brooklyn Howell scored six of her 14 points in the fourth as her team outscored the Lady Eagles 10-2.
Hennessey’s lone points were a pair of free throws by Emma Copeland.
She led the team with six points along with Clare Munroe.
Munroe scored all of her points in the first half as Hennessey trailed 15-12 at the half.
Star Torres drained a 3-pointer and Copeland made two field goals in the third as the Lady Eagles used a 7-2 run to claim the lead.
The loss dropped Hennessey to 13-7.
Warriors close strong to beat Eagles A fourth-quarter barrage by Ripley delivered Hennessey its fourth straight loss.
The Eagles fell 51-46 to the Warriors in last Tuesday night’s road game.
The loss saw their season mark fall to 9-11. In the current streak, all four losses have been by 10 or fewer points. The last three have been by a total of 10 points.
Hennessey led most of the night, including 35-30 going into the final frame.
That’s when the Warriors got 3-pointers from three different players and outscored their visitors 21-11.
Hennessey had just two field goals in the fourth.
One was a trey by Camdyn Richardson, who led the team with 22 points.
Richardson had a relatively quiet first half with seven points, but scored 10 in the third.
Hagen Copeland added 12 points for Hennessey while Braedyn Richardson scored eight.
Ripley was led by Bryce Smith and Kolby Zetterberg, who scored 15 and 14, respectively.
